Privacy Policy

Updated September 26, 2026

Folio is an iPhone app for reviewing and cleaning up your photo library. This policy explains, in plain language, what Folio does — and doesn't do — with your information.

Photo library access

Folio requests access to your photo library so it can display, sort, and delete the photos you choose. You grant or restrict this access through iOS Settings at any time, and you can choose between full access and limited access to specific photos.

Photo analysis — including identifying screenshots, similar shots, and low-resolution images — takes place entirely on your device. Folio does not upload your photo-library images to a developer server.

What is stored, and where

Your sorting decisions, photo identifiers, app preferences, and the introductory allowance of 10 photo decisions are stored locally on your device. They are not transmitted to us or to any third party.

Removing the Folio app removes its app-local state. This does not restore photos you previously deleted from your photo library — deleted photos can only be recovered through the Recently Deleted album in Apple Photos while Apple still keeps them there.

Subscriptions, billing, and RevenueCat

Payments are processed by Apple through Apple StoreKit. Billing is handled by Apple, and Folio never receives your payment-card details.

To validate purchases and understand how subscriptions perform, Folio uses RevenueCat, a subscription infrastructure service. Folio sends RevenueCat its Apple-verified purchase history, product identifiers, transaction dates, subscription status, store and currency information, and an anonymous app user identifier generated by the RevenueCat SDK. Apple also sends RevenueCat purchase, renewal, cancellation, and refund events.

RevenueCat does not receive your photos or videos, your sorting decisions, your name, your email address, or any advertising identifiers. For details on how RevenueCat handles this data, see RevenueCat's own privacy policy at revenuecat.com/privacy.

What Folio does not do

Folio contains no advertising and does not track you across other apps or websites. No advertising identifiers are shared with RevenueCat or anyone else.

Photo and video analysis and your sorting decisions remain entirely on your device, and no Folio account is required. Apple's Photos, iCloud, and purchase services follow Apple's privacy policies. If you use iCloud Photos, Apple may download previews and sync library changes across devices.
